Juba Tuomola

Juba TuomolaJussi “Juba” Tuomola (born in 1965) is one of the best-known Finnish comic artists. His most popular creation is Viivi ja Wagner, a comic strip about the relationship between a modern, politically and environmentally conscious woman and a literally pig-like man. Viivi ja Wagner has had a huge success in Finland, and the comic strip has also been adapted to the stage and transformed into exhibitions. Tuomola’s other works include; Les Tavattomat, Pate Patonki, Vauhti-Virtanen, Menestyksen maku, and Minerva. His comics have been published in a variety of magazines and newspapers such as Helsingin Sanomat, Pahkasika, the Finnish MAD magazine, and Turun Sanomat. He also makes illustrations for various publications, books and advertisements.

Tuomola was awarded the Puupäähattu comics prize in 2000, and he also received the Suomi prize from the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture in 2010.
