Pauliina Mäkelä

In her stories Pauliina Mäkelä (born in 1980) relies on dark, dream-like atmosphere. An illustrator, childrens’ book artist, and comic artist, she has drawn short stories for several anthologies, for example Italian Canicola and Finnish-Canadian anthology 10X. Mäkelä has done two publications, comic strip collection The Carnival (2005) and large-format Mystic Sessions, Vol. 1 (2006). In 2007, she won first prize at the Fumetto International Comix Competition. She has also been the editor-in-chief of the free experimental comics magazine Kuti.
